A BIT ABOUT ME AND WHERE I LIVE

Good morning! Today I want to tell you a little about where I live. I live in a Townhouse development. There are 72 attached homes in my development in 4 different styles in rows of 8 and 10 homes. The home I live in is the largest style. In other parts of the country, I guess they could be called condo's. My entire lot , with my house on it, is 20' x 80 '. We have lived here for almost 32 years. We bought this home 6 months before we were married but did not live here until the day of our wedding. We planned on living here 5 years and then buying or building a single home. Well, that never happened.
Our development is a closed development meaning there is no through traffic. You have to drive through an Apartment complex to get to my development.
Please click on pics to enlarge! If you double click, it will enlarge more!

This is the view looking out of my bedroom window (through the screen, sorry). You can see the Apartment complex at the top of the hill. This is where both of my son's have apartments of their own. The apple does not fall far from the tree, huh?
You can also see the large building at the top of the hill. It is a Veteran's Administration Hospital. No, that is not where I work.

This is also looking out my bedroom window. I have to go up 13 steps to get to our row of homes. We used to be surrounded by woods and no one knew we were back here. Until the Wachovia, now Mohegan Sun Arena was built not far from my home. Then the whole area became the shopping mecca of our county in Pa. What you see above is the roof of Lowe's. The Arena Hub Shopping Center was built right next to my development.

This is looking out of my Craft Room window. What you are looking at in the distance is the top of Target. And that is Interstate 81 in about the middle of the pic. Target is located in the Shopping Center called Wilkes Barre Twp. Commons. The roof of the store that is right below the trees on the side of our road is MICHAEL"S!!!!! Yes, I can walk down the dirt back road to Michael's.

These are the lights of Pet Co.

The above pic was taken from my front porch. What you see is the sign on top of Barnes and Nobles over the top of Lowe's Roof. The white building in the background is the Arena.

The white building in the background in the middle of this pic is the Wyoming Valley Mall which has been here since the 70's.

This is from my front porch again. In the summer when the leaves are on the trees, these views are blocked by the trees.

Again, Barnes and Nobles.

These are some of the stores in these 2 shopping Centers that are minutes away from me:
Lowe's, T.J. Maxx, Bed,Bath and Beyond, Dick's Sporting Goods, Micheal's, Old Navy, Staples, Pet Co., Pier One, Men's Warehouse, Marshall's, Ross, Catherine's, Babys R Us, Party City.
Restaurants:
Olive Garden, OutBack Steak House, Smokey Bones, Panera Bread.

Closer to the arena is another shopping center, Wilkes Barre Township Marketplace, where there is a Super Walmart, A.C. Moore's, Fashion Bug, Chuck E. Cheese, Cracker Barrel, Red Robin, Logan's SteakHouse, Bob Evans.

Am I lucky living next to all of this??? It has it's Pro's and Con's. Traffic on the weekends and around Christmas is horrific!! But I do love to visit all of these stores that are at an arm's distance from me. As we get older, it is very convenient.

We also live about 10 minutes away from the Mohegan Sun Casino. Joe and I were there last evening. We ate for free at the wonderful buffet on Joe's Comp points and played the slots a bit. We came home with $80 bucks to the good so it was a nice evening out.

Thanks for visiting me today and every day you take the time to stop by.

Hugs,
Debbie
